Metal Saws
All saws are first coated with a rust resistant
flat black paint. The traditional New England countryside
is painted in acrylics
and finished with a satin varnish. The handles on the handsaw
are plastic and glued in place; the handles on the crosscut
saw are fastened into a slot. Each saw is individually
hand-painted, so no two
pieces are
exactly the same.
The wood bases are made from storm-felled trees and will
vary in type; ash, birch, pine, etc. The bases are approximately
4-5" in
length and sealed with a satin varnish.
Season choices: Winter, Fall, Late Winter/Early Spring, Spring/Summer
All saws and mini slates will be shipped with a
magnetic strip on the back. The wood stands for the saw
are sold separately and have a small decoration such a a
bird, frog, or flower glued at one end (or without decoration
if requested).
Handsaw |
|
|
|
The Handsaw measures 6 1/8" total
length. The log cabin with its' stone chimney sits in
a field at the base
of a mountain ablaze with New England Fall colors.
I imagine sitting on the front porch looking over the
distant stream
and basking in the warmth of the yellows, reds,
and oranges shining in the distance. Canada Geese start
their annual
migration.

Cross Cut Saw |
|
|
|
The Crosscut Saw measures 7" total
length. This log cabin retreat offers the
serenity most of us need to find somewhere in our lives.
Chop some wood
for the cool Spring/Summer evenings in the
mountains. Take the boats out for some enjoyable fishing
or just cruise
the pond. Jump off the dock to cool off or
sunbathe for the afternoon with your favorite author. Simply
enjoy the
view from the porch, listening to the birds
and frogs.

Circular Saw |
|
|
|
The Circular Saw measures 3" in
diameter. This modern log cabin comes with all the amenities.
The maple
tree has reached its' full color potential and
a few leaves are beginning to drop around the swing.
I can just imagine
the aroma of fresh baked pumpkin pie filling
the crisp Fall air and, maybe, jack 'o lanterns being
carved inside
the comfortable cabin.

All slates are painted with a traditional New England countryside
scene in acrylics and a satin varnish applied. Each slate
is individually painted so no two are exactly the same
All slates will be shipped with a magnetic strip attached.
Gold thread hanger will be added upon request.
The easels are hand made of basswood or balsa
wood, sanded, and painted in dark brown with a satin varnish
finish. They
are available in
two sizes, approximately 4" and 6" and are sold separately.
2" x 3" / 2" x 4" Slate |
|
| |
The 2"x3" (and 2" x 4" -
availability varies) slates fit on either size
easel. Winter
in New England is not only beautiful
but also active. Building snowmen, sledding, skiing
– day or night – leads to a great cup of
hot chocolate by a cozy
wood stove. The night sky is frequently brighter
due to the illumination of rolling hill trails
by friends' and
neighbors' efforts to enjoy this special time of year.

2" x 2" Slate |
|
|
|
The 2"x2" slate fits well
on the small easel. February-March is known by several
descriptive
names in New England; late winter/early spring, mud
season, or sugaring season. In rural New England, it
is difficult
to find a sugar maple tree that does not have a sap
bucket attached. The longer, warmer, sunnier days allow
the sap
to flow, the snow to melt, and the mud to rise.

Easel (approx. 4"): $8.00

3" x 4" Slate |
|
|
|
The 3"x4" slate sits nicely
on the large easel.
Late spring/early summer in New England fills the
landscapes with new gardens, flowering shrubs
and trees, wildflowers
popping up, and the pale new growth of the evergreens.
Softer shades of fall's brilliant colors give this
season of renewal its own special charm.

Flat Irons and Skillets
Both the flat iron and the skillet are made
of cast aluminum. They are first covered with a rust resistant
flat black paint
and then painted with a traditional New England countryside
in acrylics with a satin varnish finish. Each piece is individually
hand-painted so no two pieces are exactly the same.
Skillet |
|
|
|
The skillet is 4" in diameter and
6 1/4" in height. The interior 3" diameter painted
scene reminds me of a fall hiking trip through the
colorful New England mountains. The tent is pitched on
ground covered
with the falling leaves and pine needles. The backpack
leaning against a tree holds the cooking supplies
to be used over the campfire on this clear crisp morning.
Soon
the sleeping bag will be rolled up and the hike will
continue.
Gold thread as a hanger added upon request. Skillets
will be shipped with magnetic strips attached
unless customer specifies otherwise.

Freestanding Iron |
|
|
|
The free-standing flat iron measures
3" high, 2" wide at the base, and 2" deep
from front to back. The wood and fieldstone barn sits
atop a gentle hill sprinkled with wildflowers. The cart
to the right of the tree holds several potted flowering
plants to be planted by the wood fence. The swing in
the tree helps to cool the children in the summer heat.
